Long before Elvis was heralded as the King Of Rock 'N' Roll, he first was a fan of gospel music. Although it was instrumental in shaping his spiritual life as well as his career, no documentary has truly chronicled this facet of his life.... until now. He Touched Me: The Gospel Music of Elvis' gospel recordings and never before seen footage.

This 3-hour collection, filled with personal stories by those who knew him well, goes behind the scenes of Elvis' career. Discover how Elvis was dramatically influenced by two of southern gospel music's premier quartets, The Statesmen and the Blackwood Brothers. Examine Elvis' thirty year friendship with the gospel legend JD Summer. Learn of the controversy surrounding his perfomances of "Peace In The Valley" on the Ed Sullivan Show. Hear the surprising story behind the recordings of his signiture hymn and how deeply he was touched by gospel music.

Joe Moscheo coordinated and co-produced this documentary, which aired on PBS and is currently available on DVD.

Elvis' former backup vocal groups, The Imperials and The Stamps, as well as his former musical director Joe Guercio, have joined forces for a 2-CD set called 'The gospel side of Elvis'.

The friendship and working relationship between the two groups dates back to the mid-sixties. They were so close that they even had twin touring buses, painted gold and black, with their names scrolled across the sides.

The Imperials and The Stamps played many gospel concerts together, not knowing at the time just how parallel their careers would be over the next few years. JD Sumner and The Stamps replaced The Imperials as Elvis' male backup group in 1972. Both groups have continued their involvement with Elvis by appearing in Memphis from year to year at Elvis Birthday and Elvis Week events put on by Graceland / EPE, and also alternating as male vocal group for EPE's Elvis-video-interactive stage production 'Elvis The Concert' as it toured the world.

Result is a nice 2-CD set with a collection of gospel songs that had some meaningful connection to their relationship with Elvis. It includes an 8-page booklet with candid photos, featuring different shots of the groups from year to year with Elvis.
