The Belgian fanclub
ElvisMatters invited the Imperials (+ Barbara Dex & Maarten Jansen) for
their 20th concert in 3 years time. And what a Celebration that was. The
Imperials performed for a completely sold out showroom and proved song after
song why Elvis wanted them to sing on his Gospel albums. Tasteful harmony,
fun on stage and 4 incredible voices: again, that was the winning concept
for the show. So many years later, the great Imperials sound better than
ever. The standing ovations and long applauses showed the appreciation of
the Belgian and Dutch fans. “We feel so welcome here, it’s like our second
home”, Joe Moscheo said. “It feels like going on vacation and meeting old
friends.” Perhaps that too, was a key to the success of that Saturday
evening: the Imperials don’t have any ‘star attitude’: not only are they the
best vocal group in the world, but more so: they’re a terrific bunch of guys
with a voice ànd heart of gold.
Barbara
admitted that she was nervous at the beginning, but she did her songs
perfect, and the audience kept asking her back: ‘we want more!’. Maarten
closed “A Touch of Gospel” with the message song ‘If I Can Dream’, leaving
no doubt that he is THE upcoming man in the Elvisworld.
A few
moments before the beginning of the show Joe and Terry Blackwood gave an
interview for a special report in "De Rode Loper" on Belgian TV.

It is no secret that
Joe Guercio and Joe Moscheo are really good friends. Not only at the
time they performed with Elvis on stage back in the 70's. They began
their friendship when they performed together on stage with EP in
the 70’s, and continues to this day in their office in Nashville.
For Joe Guercio's
birthday Joe Moscheo has painted a picture, 'Maestro of the Universe'.
This picture is taken on Joe's birthday, when Joe Moscheo surprised
him with this unique present.

The Belgian Elvis
Matters fan club tries to conquer the Elvis world. They try to do so
by putting fans and Elvis first. Their first step outside Belgium
was to The Netherlands.
On May 20, 2006 they organized the spectacular event "One Night With
The King" featuring The Sweet Inspirations, The Imperials, Joe
Guercio with a 75 piece orchestra and of course the TCB Band,
including John Wilkinson. To support this original line-up of artist
who performed with Elvis on stage we got Jenson Bloomer (vocals) and
Tony Smith on guitar with the Dutch Lee Towers as the special guest.
The night was as spectacular as the line-up we all know from "Elvis
The Concert", so you know pretty much what you saw on stage. A
performance like this was, by the original line-up of Elvis former
musicians, a big orchestra, a strong vocalist and all the Elvis fans
- from 16 countries - having fun could be released on any party
compilation to get a party started.
The song list, counting 35
performances, was balanced, all the showstoppers were there with the
additional rockers to get the crowd moving. Without any doubt it was
the biggest Elvis Party ever in The Netherlands.

The
Imperials performed for sellout crowds at the Elvis Lives concert series
in Mol, Belgium. The event featured the TCB band, a 75 piece orchestra
conducted by the legendary Joe Guercio, and the Imperials, with vocals
by Stephen Ackles and surprise-act Jenson Bloomer.
The crowd was thrilled with The Imperials perfomances at both shows,
giving the group multiple standing ovations for their work. The
Imperials performed some of their classic Elvis songs including He
Touched Me, and Swing Low.
They closed their portion of the program with a fantastic version of How
Great Thou Art, accompanied by the TCB band, and the Orchestra conducted
by Joe Guercio. The group then headed back to Cologne Germany for
another two days in the studio with German recording artist Michael
Werner.

These
pictures were taken in the music room at Graceland, Memphis
Tennessee. The Imperials were asked to be a part of the Vigilcast
for the AOL Broadcast.
The room is usually roped off. Visitors can look in but not enter
the music room. For Joe it was great to be back in there, it brought
back memories of when he was there with Elvis many times years ago.
